As part of Fresh Start Waste’s commitment to providing a sustainable waste management solution with minimal environmental impact, we have a comprehensive strategy in place to reduce, measure and offset our carbon in our bid to help reduce global warming and achieve Net Zero UK targets.
Our approach is simple:
- Reduce carbon through efficient vehicles and route planning
- Measure our carbon annually
- Offset carbon through UK-based programmes
- Continue to improve
We invest in and use the very latest technology to ensure our route planning is as efficient as possible.
We actively invest in our fleet by purchasing EURO 6 engine vehicles, designed with fuel efficiency in mind. This minimises the levels of carbon emitted into the atmosphere.
We conduct a stringent annual audit to measure our overall reduced carbon impact. We have these figures independently verified and submitted to Forest Carbon, who offer UK-based tree planting programmes.
Forest Carbon have planted almost ten million trees in over 150 new UK woodlands with the support of partners such as Fresh Start. The woodlands are all independently audited and certified under the UK Woodland Carbon Code, which provides assurance around the carbon savings achieved. The project Fresh Start support is the creation of a new native woodland at The Gangway, Penrith, Cumbria.
We are continually searching for, and implementing, the very latest technology and approaches to reducing our carbon footprint and are proud to be supporting a UK-based tree planting programme.
