As part of Fresh Start Waste’s commitment to providing a sustainable waste management solution with minimal environmental impact we have a comprehensive strategy in place to reduce, measure and then offset our carbon in our bid to help reduce global warming and achieve Net Zero UK targets.
Our approach is simple:
- Reduce carbon through efficient vehicles and route planning
- Measure our carbon on an annual basis
- Offset carbon through UK based programmes
- Continually improve
We invest in and utilise the very latest technology to ensure our route planning is as efficient as possible. On an ongoing basis we also invest in our fleet, by purchasing EURO 6 engine vehicles, designed with fuel efficiency in mind. This then minimises the level of carbon emitted into the atmosphere.
On an annual basis we conduct an audit to stringently measure our overall reduced carbon impact. These figures are independently verified and submitted to Forest Carbon who offer UK-based tree planting programmes.
Forest Carbon have planted more than eight million trees in over 150 new UK woodlands with the support of partners such as Fresh Start. The woodlands are all independently audited and certified under the UK Woodland Carbon Code, which provides assurance around the carbon savings achieved. The project Fresh Start support is the creation of a new native woodland at The Gangway, Penrith, Cumbria.
We are continually seeking out and utilising the very latest technology and approaches to reducing our carbon footprint and are very proud to be supporting a UK-based tree planting programme.
