Our Commitment to Safety

Safety is a core value at Fresh Start Waste Services. We recognise that a strong health and safety programme is not only essential for our business but also for the peace of mind of our clients and the protection of the environment.

Key Aspects of Our Health and Safety Programme

Employee Training: All our team members undergo extensive ongoing training to ensure they are well-prepared to handle waste and recycling materials safely. This includes proper handling techniques, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency response procedures. All staff are encouraged to report anything they notice which may be a health and safety risk, they are the eyes and ears of our operation, and our extended health and safety team.

Regulatory Compliance: We are fully compliant with all regulations regarding waste management. This includes waste transportation, disposal, and recycling requirements as well as in our offices.

Safety Equipment: Our team is equipped with the latest safety gear and equipment to minimise risks and protect against potential hazards. This includes high-visibility clothing, safety helmets, gloves, and much more.

Vehicle Safety: Our fleet of vehicles is regularly maintained and inspected to ensure they meet all safety standards. We have strict protocols for vehicle maintenance, reducing the risk of accidents and environmental harm.

Emergency Response Plan: We have a comprehensive emergency response plan in place to address unexpected situations. We are prepared to handle spills, accidents, and other incidents swiftly and effectively, rare as they are, we are always prepared.

Environmental Responsibility: Health and safety are not only about protecting people but also the environment. We are committed to eco-friendly waste collection and recycling practices, including the use of split body collection vehicles which keep recyclable materials separate on collection without the use of two vehicles to achieve this, minimising our ecological footprint.

Client and Community Safety

Fresh Start Waste Services extends its commitment to health and safety to our clients and the communities we serve. We take steps to ensure that waste collection and disposal are carried out with the utmost care and consideration for public safety. An initial site audit is completed with rigorous health and safety checks completed prior to commencement of service. We maintain regular contact with customers and periodically update drivers of changes which may impact upon safety as clients’ sites change over time.

ISO 45001 accreditation

We are ISO 45001 accredited, and have been for a number of years.
