The challenge

Kampus is the new £250m garden neighbourhood developed in central Manchester by Capital & Centric and HBD. The development hosts a range of independent retail and F&B spaces set around a lush secret garden and central courtyard. The solution

As Kampus are an environmentally aware organisation they chose to work with Fresh Start Waste who provide a waste collection and recycling service which is Carbon Conscious to the residential as well as commercial outlets on-site.

General waste collections are supported by segregated collections of food, glass, cardboard, dry mixed recycling and glass, to maximise recycling achieved across the location.

The results

As the Kampus site continues to welcome new commercial outlets such as Yum Cha, Madre, Great North Pie Co and Kampus General Store, Fresh Start will work with each of them to offer an individual service that suits their needs, as they have with Pollen Bakery, Cloudwater and Beeswing.

Each individual tenant has a dedicated point of contact at Fresh Start for any queries, and their monthly waste reports detail the breakdown of waste collected and how much has been recycled or used to produce green energy at an RDF facility.
