Avela Home Service – South Liverpool

Avela Home Service LLP is a collaboration between Penny Lane Builders and South Liverpool Homes. Repairs and maintenance is delivered to thousands of homes in the social-rented sector of South Liverpool. This community-focused venture offers job opportunities and apprenticeships to support the local area.

The challenge

Avela Home Service’s activities include responsive repairs and maintenance, compliance works, cyclical and planned improvement works and specialist property adaptations.

Previously relying on skip-based waste collections, Avela sought a provider to enhance recycling efforts and lower waste collection expenses. Avela chose Fresh Start Waste to deliver this objective. Carbon-conscious solutions were provided to boost recycling and reduce waste collection costs.

The solution

The Avela yard was reorganised to allow for segregation on-site of metal and wood, which is now directly recycled, the offices had a dry mixed recycling service introduced and a solution which now provides a rebate to Avela for UPVC was introduced.

The results

In order to assist Avela with compliance and proving they are managing waste in a sustainable and ethical manner, Fresh Start Waste provides them with a customer portal and access to comprehensive recycling reports showing weights of different waste streams collected and the onward recycling processes which have taken place, giving a fully transparent reporting system, which was not previously available to them.
