Fresh Start Waste Services has proudly partnered with Tyson Construction and Irwell Valley Homes to support a community litter-pick in Sale West, Greater Manchester. As part of Tyson Construction’s ongoing commitment to delivering social value on their construction projects, they supported a Community Clean-Up Day to bring local residents and Irwell Valley Homes colleagues together for a shared goal—tidying up and improving the estate.
To support the project, Fresh Start Waste Services provided an 8-yard general waste skip free of charge, helping to facilitate the collection and disposal of waste from footpaths, car park areas, and other communal areas. This hands-on initiative was a great example of local collaboration, showing the positive impact of public, private, and community partnerships.
The event coincides with phase 3 of the multi-million pound regeneration of Sale West which started on site this year. This phase involves the creation of three apartment blocks delivering a total of 66 affordable homes including a block for social rent, another providing independent living for older customers, and a specialist supported housing scheme. RP Tyson is the construction partner and Fresh Start Waste Services has been appointed as the dedicated waste and recycling partner for the duration of the build.
Speaking about the initiative, Sean Martins, Director of Sales and Marketing at Fresh Start Waste Services, commented:
“We’re always proud to support community-focused initiatives and were delighted to work alongside Tyson Construction and Irwell Valley Homes to provide a skip for this clean-up. Projects like these create a sense of pride and unity within local neighbourhoods, and we’re glad we could play a part in that. As Tyson’s waste partner, it’s great to support them not just on site, but in the community too.”
Peter Reynolds, Purchasing and Customer Operations Manager at Tyson Construction, added:
“Social value is an integral part of our projects—particularly those part-funded by Homes England—and we’re pleased to give back to the communities we’re building in. This clean-up event was a great way to start our work in Sale West and to connect with local residents. We’re very grateful to Fresh Start Waste for their support in providing the skip, which helped make the day a success.”
Also speaking about the initiative, Philip Helm, Business Development Director at Tyson Construction, said:
“It’s vital that our work delivers more than just buildings. We want to leave a lasting, positive legacy in every community we operate in. Events like this in Sale West bring people together and help lay the foundation for a stronger, cleaner and more connected neighbourhood. We’re delighted to be part of it.”
Michelle Nutter, Head of Repairs and Estate Maintenance at Irwell Valley Homes, said: “It was great to join forces with our colleagues, customers and partners to host the community litter pick across Sale West.
“A big thank you to everyone who joined in and to Fresh Start Waste and Tyson for their help and generosity. We know from the feedback we receive from our customers that days like these are really appreciated, and it was fantastic to see people mucking in and making a difference.”
The clean-up event not only helped improve the appearance of the estate but also served as a symbolic kick-off to the forthcoming construction phase—marking the beginning of a project that will bring new homes and opportunities to the area.
Fresh Start Waste Services continues to champion sustainability and community support through partnerships like this—working closely with businesses, local authorities, and charities across the North West to deliver responsible waste and recycling solutions with purpose.
