As a carbon-conscious company, the environment is at the core of everything we do. Being a widely trusted waste collector, we understand our responsibility to both our customers and the community to minimise our carbon footprint. That’s why we provide win-win solutions by encouraging customers to segregate waste at the source, rewarding these efforts with reduced waste disposal costs.
Fresh Start Waste is a waste management provider and sustainability partner. Here’s why businesses across the region trust us for their FEL bin hire:
FEL bins therefore offer several distinct benefits over skips:
Traditional skips are more suited to bulky waste streams, such as bricks, wood and other construction materials.
If your business generates these waste types, we can provide a wide range of skips for our customers.
How much you can fit in a FEL bin depends on the size. They’re generally measured in cubic yards, with the most standard sizes being 6, 8 or 10 cubic yards. You can expect to fit the following in each:
6 cubic yards – roughly 60 – 70 standard bin bags
8 cubic yards – roughly 80 – 90 bin bags
10 cubic yards – roughly 100 – 110 bin bags
A front end loader skip is designed for light, dry, and compactable waste. They are mostly used by businesses to dispose of general waste such as packaging, paper, cardboard, and plastics. FEL skips are best suited to everyday commercial waste that is light and bulky, and so are ideal for offices, shops, and schools.
Front end loaders are not suitable for heavy waste such as soil, rubble, concrete, or plasterboard. You should also avoid using them for hazardous or restricted materials like paints, solvents, oils, asbestos, batteries, electrical items (WEEE), medical or clinical waste, or any liquids. These materials require more specialist forms of disposal, which can be arranged by a waste management company like Fresh Start.
The key difference between a FEL skip and a RoRo skip is in their design, size, and how they’re collected.
FEL bins are fixed, lidded containers that stay on site and are emptied on a scheduled basis by a front-loading truck. FELs are relatively compact and designed for light, bulky, and compactable waste. They’re cost-effective for sites that produce steady volumes of everyday waste but not large amounts of heavy material.
A Roll-on Roll-off skip is a much larger open container that is delivered to site, filled, and then removed completely by a specialist RoRo truck. RoRo skips are most often used on construction, demolition, or industrial sites with very large volumes of heavy or bulky waste, such as soil, rubble, metals, and timber.
