A Week of Celebrations Across All Sites
To honour two decades of hard work, commitment, and growth, the Fresh Start team came together for a week-long celebration across all our sites. Team members enjoyed delicious Carrs Pasties, refreshing drinks, and specially branded cupcakes, made by a local business You Gotta Have Cake, we have also had five commemorative picnic benches delivered as part of the celebrations to mark the occasion, with the celebrations culminating in a fantastic garden party at Worsley Old Hall.
It was a moment for colleagues from across the company to reflect on how far we’ve come, share stories, and look ahead to what the future holds. We’re incredibly proud of the positive, inclusive culture we’ve built together—and May was the perfect time to acknowledge the people behind our success.

As we celebrated our 20th anniversary, we were also thrilled to be recognised externally. Fresh Start Waste was shortlisted in two prestigious categories at the North West Family Business Awards 2025:
- Business Services Excellence – large business
- Leadership Excellence Award – Nicola McGrath
Being a finalist in these categories reflects our long-standing commitment to environmental excellence, innovation, and making a difference in our communities. Key Moments from 2025 So Far
While May was a highlight, 2025 has already been a big year for Fresh Start. Some of our standout achievements include:
- Expanding our food waste collection service to support large clients like Froneri Ice Cream across multiple sites
- Achieving PAS 402 Accreditation for demonstrating excellence in waste management
- Sponsoring World Armwrestling Champion Agy Gorzynska, reinforcing our support for local talent and wellbeing
- Supporting the community through initiatives with Positive Futures and Wood Street Mission on various charitable projects
- Earning ‘Great Place to Work’ certification highlighting our commitment to supporting our wonderful team, who have helped us to reach this significant 20 year milestone
