Fresh Start Waste support Derian House hospice by starting Christmas early

Family-run waste management company Fresh Start are once again doing their bit to support local causes as well as continuing to celebrate the family-friendly ethos they have become synonymous with, after raising £400 for Derian House Children’s Hospice.

The 1st  of December saw all departments in the business decorated to the hilt with Christmas decorations to enter the ‘best dressed’ office competition, a buffet lunch enjoyed by staff, multiple fancy dress efforts in the ‘best dressed’ competition, and, most importantly, donations made by staff for Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley who look after seriously ill children and provide support to their families.

Nicola McGrath, CEO at Fresh Start commented “Our staff wanted to do something fun and worthwhile in the spirit of Christmas and Derian House is a charity we are proud to support. They look after over 450 children and young people from all across the North West. The care is free to families in desperate need of the support, but it costs the charity £5million each year to run. With just over 10% of the running costs coming from the NHS, they are heavily reliant upon donations and fund raising. Unfortunately, they have also been impacted by the pandemic and we hope the funds we raised in our 1st December Christmas event will be of some help. Thanks to all the staff who took part and donated and also to the company for their contribution.”
