At Fresh Start Waste, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword – it’s at the heart of everything we do. As part of our ongoing pledge to provide sustainable, carbon-efficient, and balanced operations across our award-winning commercial waste management and recycling services, we’ve once again taken action to reduce and offset our environmental impact.
Working alongside our long-term partners at Forest Carbon, this year we have successfully mitigated 3,260 tonnes of CO₂. For every tonne emitted, a tree has been planted here in the UK at Acheilidh Woodland in the Scottish Highlands and one tonne has been offset via Verra VCS certified hydro-electricity projects in India and Turkey, ensuring our positive impact reaches beyond borders.
This combined approach helps us continue to deliver waste management services that don’t just support businesses, but also protect the planet for future generations.
Colin Harvey, Commercial Director at Fresh Start Waste, said:
“We know our customers want more than just a reliable waste management service – they want the reassurance that their waste is being handled responsibly, with sustainability at the core. By working with Forest Carbon and supporting international hydro projects, we’re proud to make a measurable difference to carbon reduction while continuing to invest in the UK’s natural environment.”
Stephen Prior, Director at Forest Carbon, added:
“We’ve been working with Fresh Start Waste for six years now and they have consistently shown leadership in making sustainability a genuine business priority. By supporting both woodland creation here in the UK and renewable energy abroad, they are making a real contribution to tackling climate change in a balanced, credible way.”
From planting trees in the Highlands to backing renewable energy initiatives abroad, Fresh Start Waste remains committed to driving down carbon, championing recycling, and helping businesses across the North West achieve their own sustainability goals.
