Waste Wood Recycling
We all need to be forest positive. Once they’re gone, they’re gone…
Waste Wood Recycling
Globally, every minute we lose an area of forest equivalent to that of 20 football pitches. That’s close to 7.3 million hectares a year and rising, with many trees not replanted.
At Fresh Start we are able to help our customers make a difference and save money by providing a dedicated recycling container for wood waste. If a business is generating a steady stream of pallets, boxes, crates, plywood, MDF, soft or hard woods, we’ll be able to source an appropriate recycling bin and agree a suitable collection schedule.
This will enable us to help you be ‘forest positive’, and make sure that your waste wood is diverted from landfill to a specialist recycling facility.
What Happens To My Waste Wood After Disposal?
That depends on the grade of the materials which you put into your recycling container. Clean pallets or furniture can be repurposed much more easily than chipboard or painted doors. This is because they don’t have to go through as many processes as lower grade recyclables, and it’s possible to salvage the best timber to be milled and reused as decking, flooring or even beams.
Most wood which is disposed of isn’t suitable for that type of high-end treatment, and often ends up being shredded, chipped or otherwise reconditioned. Pallets, for instance, can often be fairly easily broken down and rebuilt into new pallets, packaging crates or scaffold boards.
Shavings, sawdust and the pulp from chipped wood, too, have a myriad of uses. From being put into action as animal bedding, scattered as a soft landing surface on playgrounds, to being a key component of biomass fuel, it is an incredibly versatile by-product.
How Often Do Are Your Wood Collections?
Here at Fresh Start, we always aim to be with you at the same time each week. If you need a more regular or slightly less frequent waste collection service, we will be able to fit you into our schedule.
Needless to say, we are hugely proud of our green credentials, which is why all of our collections are made by wagons equipped with the latest Euro 5 & 6 engines, and all routed to be as efficient as possible when it comes to using fuel.
We are based in Manchester, but also cover Liverpool, Preston, Bolton and the rest of the North West. As one of the UK’s fastest-growing waste contractors, our prices are competitive, hugely cost effective and can help you save on Landfill Tax bills.
Do You Collect Wood From Homes?
No. We currently only deal with with businesses with premises in the North West of England.
However, if your local council doesn’t accept wood as a kerbside collection, then your local recycling centre/tip almost certainly will.
